Number of Players

American Mah Jongg is traditionally played with four players, each competing individually—no partners. However, the game can also be adjusted for different group sizes:

  • Two-Handed American Mah Jongg
  • Three-Handed American Mah Jongg
  • Five or Six-Handed American Mah Jongg

The rulebook includes guidelines on how to modify gameplay for each of these variations.
