Three-Handed Mah Jongg
Three-player Mah Jongg follows standard gameplay rules with these specific adjustments:
Building Walls
- Four walls of tiles are built.
- Each of the three players builds one wall (19 tiles long, 2 tiles high) with one player building one additional wall.
- Typically the player with the empty seat to their right builds the extra wall.
Dealing Tiles
Dealing follows a slightly modified procedure:
- Players select tiles in rounds, with each round consisting of players selecting four tiles (two stacks at a time). This process is repeated for three rounds, following the standard four-player game format, until each player has a total of 12 tiles.
- After each player has 12 tiles, and it becomes East’s turn again, each player selects one additional tile, bringing their total to 13 tiles.
- Finally, EastThe player position that is referred to as Dealer, East, Pivot, or First Player.
