Two-Handed Mah Jongg

Two-player Mah Jongg follows standard gameplay rules with these specific adjustments:

Building Walls

  • Each player builds two walls, one in front of them and one to their right, creating four walls total.

Dealing Tiles

  • The two unoccupied positions do not receive tiles.
  • Each player picks four tiles three times (totaling 12 tiles each).
  • East picks their 13th and 14th tiles, the other player picks their 13th tile to complete selection.

Charleston Omitted

  • Like three-handed Mah Jongg, the Charleston is not performed.

Gameplay and East Rotation

  • East starts by discarding the first tile.
  • Standard four-player gameplay rules apply.
  • East rotates normally (counterclockwise) after each completed game.
