2026 Card Breakdown

The 2026 NMJL Card is divided into nine sections with a total of 72 different hands depicted on the card.

However, it is important to know that even though the card displays 72 hands there are actually 1,077 different hands possibilities, excluding the use of Jokers. With Jokers, the winning hand opportunities are endless…well not endless but there are a lot!

Rules that apply every year:

  • A Joker cannot be used to represent a Single grouping. This includes the visual appeal groupings of four single tiles together, such as:
    • 2026, NEWS, 2468, 369, 246, 1234, etc
  • A Joker cannot be used in a Pair. This includes the visual appeal groupings with a pair and single tiles together, such as:
    • 113579
    • 3369
  • Flower and Winds are Suitless.
  • White Dragon (Soap) when used as a Zero is Suitless.
  • The three colors on the card (Blue, Green, and Red) only indicate how many suits are used in the hand, not which suits must be used.
